Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that helps clients process trauma, distressing experiences, and difficult memories. Traumatic experiences can sometimes remain inadequately processed, causing memories to continue to trigger emotional distress, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, or other reactions long after an event has passed. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation while safely revisiting aspects of these experiences, helping the brain process and integrate them differently. Over time, this can reduce the intensity and emotional impact of distressing memories and help the nervous system recognize that the event is no longer happening.
