Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST)
Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) is a trauma-focused approach designed to support people who have experienced complex, prolonged, or early-life trauma. It views behaviours such as emotional flooding, dissociation, addiction, self-harm, and other trauma responses as adaptive strategies that developed to help a person survive. Rather than judging these responses, TIST uses a parts-based perspective, neuroscience, somatic awareness, and mindfulness to help clients understand them with greater compassion. The approach focuses on developing internal safety, improving emotional regulation, and reducing overwhelm before deeper trauma processing. At our Centre, TIST may be used alongside EMDR and Brainspotting.
