Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS), or Parts Work, views the mind as consisting of different “parts,” each with its own thoughts, feelings, and roles. Some parts may carry emotional pain from past experiences, while others develop protective strategies to prevent us from experiencing that pain again. Rather than judging or trying to eliminate these parts, IFS approaches them with curiosity and compassion. At the centre is the “Self,” understood as a calm, compassionate core capable of helping these parts feel understood and supported. This process can foster greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and internal connection.
