About Katherine
Life brings experiences that shape who we are, and at times those experiences can feel difficult to navigate on our own. Therapy can offer a place to step away from the demands of everyday life, slow things down, and make space to better understand what you are experiencing. My intention is to create a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, safety, respect, and genuine connection, where you can speak openly and explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Before beginning my work in psychotherapy, I spent more than 25 years as an educator. That experience has deeply shaped the way I understand and connect with people. Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through different stages of life, each with their own experiences, strengths, challenges, relationships, and ways of making sense of the world. I have learned how meaningful it can be to have someone take the time to listen, remain curious, and see the person beyond the difficulty they may be facing.
I believe therapy is most meaningful when it is collaborative and when you feel that your experiences, values, and goals are genuinely understood. We will work together to understand what is happening for you and identify what may help you move forward.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and draws from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I offer a compassionate, practical, and supportive approach for adults experiencing life transitions, grief and loss, stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and other challenges that can arise throughout adulthood.
Along with my developing clinical training, I bring the perspective that comes from decades of professional and life experience. I understand that change does not always happen quickly or in a straight line. Therapy can provide an opportunity to better understand yourself, strengthen the ways you cope with difficult emotions and circumstances, and develop a greater sense of clarity, confidence, and balance as you move forward.
On a personal note
I’m a proud Mom and happiest when I’m spending time with the people (and pups!) that I love most. I have a special soft spot for my dogs and love the connection, companionship, and unconditional love they bring into my life. I’m a big believer in the little things that make life feel good - a great cup of coffee, a slow morning, and time spent walking in nature are some of my favourite ways to recharge. I also love a warm bath and am convinced that sleep is my superpower! At the end of the day, I value slowing down, being present, and making space for the simple moments that help us feel grounded and connected.
